Buy your tickets before they sell out, and get ready for a splendiferous evening of elegance and fun!
Kids Helping Kids Sacramento is a non-profit organization dedicated to investing in the lives of children in need. Entirely run by high school juniors and seniors, Kids Helping Kids Sacramento makes a difference from the classroom to the community. The organization aims to change the lives of children by giving them access to opportunities that all children deserve.
A great example of a Kids Helping Kids Sacramento project is the Annual Schools Project, in which over 500 kindergarteners each year, who are entering schools with low socioeconomic statuses, receive backpacks and necessary school supplies. These students are able to go into their first year of school feeling confident and prepared. Kids Helping Kids Sacramento is also integrating itself directly into schools in order to make a difference through hands on, long term programs. Members of Kids Helping Kids Sacramento cultivate relationships with the students they teach and mentor, allowing students to feel comfortable and self-assured around their mentor. One of the organization’s programs is the The Academic Advancement Company, an entirely free opportunity for students to receive tutoring in subjects they need support in. Through The Academic Advancement Company, tutors meet twice weekly with their students, whose grades range from kindergarteners to high school seniors. Additionally, Kids Helping Kids Sacramento’s Arts Project reintroduces structured art lessons into elementary schools that have had to reduce art programs due to budget cuts. Because of the Arts Project, elementary school students are able to express and value their creativity in a classroom setting.
Along with classroom programs, Kids Helping Kids Sacramento focuses on supporting specific individuals in need. When a family came to Kids Helping Kids Sacramento in need of a hearing aid for their son who could no longer hear his teachers’ lectures, the organization provided them with a grant to ensure that they were able to buy the proper hearing aid. Their son went on to thrive in his classes, now able to hear his teachers. Kids Helping Kids also granted a motorized wheelchair to a boy with special needs named Dillon. With this wheelchair, Dillon was able to improve his motor skills and have greater independence.
Kids Helping Kids Sacramento is committed to investing in the lives of children in need, and in making a difference in the Sacramento community through educational improvements and opportunities for all.
