REAL Conversations Speaker Series
REAL Conversations is a speaker series highlighting expert guests around a range of topics. Formatted to invite audience participation as an enhancement to the conversation hosted on stage, this Series provides a curiosity-driven space to listen and inquire more deeply in community.
In this session, Jen Oliver hosts a panel discussion on neurodiversity through the lens that people who think outside of a “neurotypical” blueprint are an under-recognized resource.
We will grapple with common misperceptions that individuals who experience neurological and developmental conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, etc. need to simply be tolerated, fixed, or accommodated. This topic requires more nuanced questions like, “What if the ‘typical’ learner is actually a smaller subset in a sea of diversely wired brains? And, how would our educational options, work environments, and overall approach to one another change, if we operated accordingly...”
There are incredible options emerging to fill the void that still exists in many of our schools and workplaces. Our panelists will include Michelle Raz and other experts in the arenas of education, neurodevelopment, psychology and most importantly, lived experience!
Michelle Raz is the founder of Thrivister - a company that assists young adults to thrive with executive functioning challenges such as ADHD. She is also a certified career coach and the author of a book that helps individuals experiencing executive function challenges find careers they love. Michelle is the parent of a brilliant child affected by ADHD.
