Overview

The Harris Center features three intimate state-of-the-art performance spaces, an art gallery, one of the Sacramento region’s largest recording studios, and spacious educational facilities. Center programs include presentations that bring artists from around the world to perform and share, partnerships that make the Center a home for local artists and arts organizations, and productions of work created and/or developed on site.

Regular Positions

Director of Marketing and Communications

Under the direction of the Harris Center's Executive Director, develops, organizes, and directs communications, marketing, and public relations for the Harris Center and its programs; emphasis includes recruitment, retention and cultivation of loyal patrons, particularly in support of the Center's presentation of touring artists and fund development efforts.

This is a full time, year round management position including a solid benefits package with health insurance, CalPERS retirement, 3 weeks of annual vacation, etc.

Student Employment & Internship Positions

Student Employees

Students currently enrolled and taking a minimum load of 6 units at one of Los Rios Community College District’s four colleges may apply for student positions at the Center. Student positions are available in all areas of the Center’s operations. College credit is available through the work experience program. Paid and unpaid internships are available.

Temporary Classified Positions

Front-of-House Lead

Serves as a Head Usher or House Manager for events, working with other staff and volunteers to provide front-line customer service for patrons attending events. This is an upper-level position in Harris Center's front-of-house staffing pool for candidates with solid experience (at least one year) in front-of-house operations for public events – minimally as an usher, preferably as a Head Usher, House Manager or equivalent.

Customer Service Representative

Assists patrons with purchasing tickets in Ticket Office & Call Center

Lead Customer Service Representatives

Assists patrons with purchasing tickets in Ticket Office & Call Center, & helps oversee daily Ticket Office & Call Center Operations.

Web & Social Media Developer

Manages the content, design, implementation, maintenance and technical support of the Harris Center's website (harriscenter.net) and social media webpages. Provides programming and design support for the web-based content management system and similar web applications through the use of relevant scripting and programming languages. Coordinates generation and execution of email correspondence with Marketing department and other related departments. Performs intermediate graphic design duties, as necessary, to generate and maintain Ticket Office signage, ticketing materials (e.g., ticket stock, envelopes, etc.), ticketing-specific promotional advertisements, and website or email visual elements; coordinates with Media Services in the generation and execution of lobby visual slide-shows. Performs related duties as required.

Intermediate graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar software; basic FTP software; intermediate HTML and CSS design (some Javascript, preferable); familiarity with Internet applications such as HTML, HTTP, and XML.

Stage Tech I

This position requires at least one year of professional live theatrical/concert production experience and demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas: sound, lighting or counterweight stage rigging.

Stage Tech II

This position requires at least two years of professional live theatrical/concert production experience and demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: sound, lighting or counterweight stage rigging.

Stage Tech III

This position requires at least three years of professional live theatrical/concert production experience and demonstrated experience in the following areas: sound, lighting and counterweight stage rigging.

Lead Stage Tech

This is an upper-level position in Harris Center's tech pool for candidates with extensive experience in stage management, stage rigging and/or master carpentry for public events.

Lead Audio Engineer

This is an upper-level position in Harris Center's tech pool for candidates with extensive experience in operating sound systems for public events.

Lead Stage Electrician

This is an upper-level position in Harris Center's tech pool for candidates with extensive experience in operating computerized lighting systems for public events.

Lead Stage Rigger

This is an upper-level position in Harris Center's tech pool for candidates with extensive experience in stage rigging. ETCP or other rigging certification strongly preferred.

Contract Positions

Arts Education Coordinator

The Harris Center is seeking a consultant(s) to provide the following services working with Harris Center and Folsom Lake College staff and volunteers to:

  • Assist with the development, execution and oversight of Harris Center arts education programs, including the long term vision, goals, and tactical strategies for these programs;
  • Coordinate and oversee the on-going operation, improvement, and growth of education programs at the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College;
  • Assure participation in the Harris Center’s arts education programs through effective marketing, communications and relationship building;
  • Contribute to the development of funding proposals and grant applications for arts education programs and initiatives.
