Family Concert: Young Person's Guide

Bring the whole family for an exciting and educational musical adventure! This lively one-hour concert features Benjamin Britten’s beloved The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, brought to life with engaging narration by Omari Tau.

The program also highlights this season’s Young Artist Competition Winner, 15-year-old violinist Arthur Bekdjanov, performing the first movement of the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

Designed for listeners of all ages, this fun and approachable concert introduces the unique sounds and personalities of the orchestra’s instruments in an engaging, easy-to-follow format.

After the performance, families are invited to our ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo in the lobby, where children can try orchestral instruments hands-on with guidance from symphony musicians.

An unforgettable experience that’s interactive, inspiring, and fun for children and adults alike.

Omari Tau is a versatile performing artist, educator, director, and composer, equally comfortable narrating and vocalizing with over 30 years in the arts. He toured with the international company of Disney’s Lion King and other credits include roles at many Tony Award-winning theaters and in various recordings.
